Spaceballs: The Animated Series, also known as Spaceballs: The Series, is an animated television series based on the parody sci-fi film Spaceballs that will be aired exclusively on G4 TV and has appeared on Canada's Super Channel. Production began in early 2005 under the supervision of Brooksfilms Limited, MGM and Berliner Film Company GmbH. Mel Brooks not only directed the writing, but also voices two characters, President Skroob and Yogurt, who were both played by Brooks in the original 1987 film. Daphne Zuniga and Joan Rivers will also reprise their roles from the film, although Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis will not. Tino Insana will replace the late John Candy as "Barf." Some promotional items on the series were seen at the 2007 Comic-Con. A total of 13 episodes will premiere on G4 on September 21, 2008 with a block of 4 episodes. Can't wait to see this one!!

okay, now I've watched the show, and have a few things to say about it after seeing the first 4 eps...
This is good,as long as you don't expect too much from it.Yes it contained all the classic Mel Brooks style humor, complete with bleeped out cursing...but in this day and age the humor comes across as a little old fashioned and inappropriate at times.
While the movie parodied many things at once in small vignettes, the series takes the characters and parodies one subject per ep.Star Wars,Lord of the Rings,Jurassic Park;all very good but predictable.
I thoroughly enjoyed episode 3,where Lone Star and Princess Vespa get trapped inside a video game in Lone Star's motel room. This was cute and is the only ep I've seen so far that was fresh and original as far as script dialogue went.
I was entertained and somewhat disapointed at the same time.It doesn't measure up to Mel's past work, something is lacking. Not quite sure what.
2 and 1/2 stars for this show.
I'll watch it again if I remember it's on.
